Set Review: 852702 - Dwarf Warrior Battle Pack
by RJ of BlockTales

SR-small

Alas, the age of Magnet Sets ends! Instead, I'm reviewing Dwarf Warrior Battle Pack. Shut up...

dwarfs1

Pretty cool though, aren't they?

dwarfs2

The set comes with a great wealth of very useful equipment: Double-sided Axes, Shields, a shovel, a pick-axe, a hammer, a torch, some ore and a barrel!

dwarfs3

Underneath the armour we get a mixture of Crownie and Viking torsos and some normal heads.

dwarfs4

Except from this great double-sided head.

dwarfs5

Action-shot!

The Verdict:

Brilliant simple brilliant... A wealth of equipment and some great figs for just under a tenner. Now, go out and buy this set before Kingdom Come(s).

Please don't hurt me.

Set Review: 852737 - Star Wars 10th Anniversary Stormtrooper Magnet
by RJ of BlockTales

SR-small

Once again in the BlockTales Set Reviews: We have magnets. However today we have Star Wars 10th Anniversary Stormtrooper Magnet!

MS10years1

Ooooohhhhh..... Shiny!

MS10years2

Although this Stormtrooper is only worth lots because it is chrome - Lego haven't done a quality chrome paint job (as you can see in this picture).

MS10years4

And for some reason - the helmet just won't stay on!

MS10years5

Then you get just another Minifigure-holding Magnet.

MS10years6

These things are piling up now. I wonder what I could do with them...

MS10years7

I just thought of something...

The Verdict:

If you want a quality chrome Minifigure, go buy a different magnet set. This is just for show, and nothing else. Also, don't let the viewer see anything else of the Minifigure, or they'll see its just a badly painted Stormtrooper.

Oh yeah, don't show up tommorrow - I'm only doing the Reviews once a week so I don't run out of Sets.

Set Review: 852555 - Magnet Set CW Yoda 2009
by RJ of BlockTales

SR-small

Today continues our Star Wars Magnet Set Reviews, today we have the catchy-and-clearly-named Magnet Set CW Yoda 2009 - yes, I didn't make that up.

MScw1

Here it is - in all its more-than-just-"CW-Yoda-2009" glory.

MScw5

Like yesterday's review and all the other current Magnets - the Minifigure is just a Minifigure.

MScw3

"CW Yoda 2009"'s stand has two extra bricks so that the midget can actually stand on it. That helps.

MScw2

I believed "CW Yoda 2009" to have a normal plastic head - just slightly bigger than the normal one, but he actually has a rubber head, WITH HAIR!

MScw4 The Lightsabre's are pretty cool, especially since I only ever had a General Grievous fig with some. These however are in the new pearl silver. The differential is "CW Count Dooku 2009(?)"'s specially moulded Lightsabre which is in chrome.

The Verdict:

A good set, worth its price all in all, despite the annoying "CW 2009" head's. This is helped by the fact that they all have Lightsabre's (In purple and a new hilt), the "CW Count Dooku 2009" hairpiece and "CW Mace Windu 2009" being my first black minifig (Chewbacca doesn't count). Oh yeah, and the hairly little green midget (2009) is so good looking. Definately one of the better Magnet Sets.

Set Review: 852715 - Star Wars Magnet Set
by RJ of BlockTales

SR-small

Ok, this doesn't really count as a set, but if it's buyable from Lego, I count it. This set is more commonly known as "The One with Battle-Damaged Darth Vader" simply because of its complecated name, though according to BrickSet, it is named simply "Star Wars Magnet Set".

MSDarthvader1

It has the exclusive Battle-Damaged Vader, rare Shadow Trooper and uncommon Snowtrooper. I've fallen in love with the smoothness of the latter.

MGdarthvader3

However the BDDV is simply amazing.

MSdarthvader4 Unlike the early Magnet Sets, these ones are fully detachable. Basically minifigs with a magnet to stand on.

MSdarthvader5 Apart from the use it was made for, the Magnet is completely useless.

MSdarthvader2

I also almost immediately noticed that BDDV's neckpiece is a SNOTed visor. With looks quite amazinging cool. It also makes a good radiation mask.

The Verdict:

This Magnet Set is amazing, and almost worth it just for the exclusive-with-expensive-set BDDV, possibly the best Magnet Set I've seen, and in a word: Instabuy. Now, thats enough persuasive advertising, go buy it now!

Set Review: 8968 - River Heist
by RJ of BlockTales

SR-small

Hello and welcome to the review of the Lego Agents set, River Heist, which has now be removed from the Lego Online Shop!

riverheist1

This is a picture of the whole set in action.

riverheist2

These are the minifigures, they all have at least one new piece, Agent Fuse has the new Agents body armour. Dollar Bill has a new face, a new torso and a recolouring of a race hairpiece. Dyna-Mite has a recolouring of the Irina Spalko haircut, a Lady Gaga-esque face and a new torso.

riverheist3

They even have double sided prints: Fuse's head and the Henchmen's torso's.

riverheist4

The Inferno raft has some cool details and a safe full of stolen money.

riverheist5

It also has a clever propeller rotation mechanism that goes into action when the raft is pushed along the ground.

riverheist6

Fuse's raft is pretty simple but sturdy. And of course, it has flick-fire missiles.

riverheist7

These are the spare parts.

The Verdict:

River Heist is a pretty average set and has nothing special except its great minifigures. However its not the sort of set you'd save every one of your pennies for. You can't officially buy this set anyway now and if you where going to buy it off eBay, you might as well see if you can find the figures separately.
